Early intervention lies at the heart of government policy for children, young people and families but how well are services doing when it comes to delivering early help, including new family help teams? This keynote will provide an overview of progress so far and explore what needs to happen to make high quality, early support a reality for all.
Technological innovations continue apace in children’s social care, focusing on predicting a wide variety of outcomes from abuse, neglect, foster placement success, educational outcomes, and the risk of a child ending up not in education, employment or training. However, these technologies also have low public trust and concerns mount about racial and other biases. This presentation will explore the realistic prospects for AI in children’s social care given the complex dynamics of family interactions and the difficulties of acquiring reliable information under time constraints, including how to build safer AI systems and regulation.
This presentation will set out the latest evidence and practical recommendations on how senior leaders within children’s services can most effectively reduce youth violence in their areas. It will be based on the Youth Endowment Fund practice guidance published in June this year.
Attend this session to:

• Share practical approaches for connecting schools with accessible, sustainable community support that helps families get the right help at the right time
• Celebrate the people, partnerships and practice across Ealing that are strengthening relationships, nurturing the workforce and unlocking support beyond the classroom

This talk by world-leading expert on language learning difficulties Margaet Snowling will explore language as the foundation for learning, showing that learning to read involves more than phonics and depends on strong spoken language and understanding. It will examine common risk factors for language and reading difficulties and why some children struggle from the early years of school. Finally, it will show how early screening and targeted support can help identify children who need extra help and improve long term educational outcomes.
